The Stage Is Set

He got off the bus at the corner of Snelling and Minnehaha, only because he liked the cross street's name. Across Snelling he saw a coffeehouse and he decided to go there. Inside a man was setting up microphones on a stage, which also had a spinet piano at the edge of the stage. 'The Stones coming here tonight?' he asked, and the man looked at him and told him it was an open stage. 'Can I play?' The old gent said to sign up so he did, though he really had no idea what he would perform. The piano enticed him so that minor detail was soon forgotten as soon as he put his name down.

Depressive Episodes

Whenever I leave the library, a dark wave rolls over me. Why this should be I have no idea, but it's happened consistently over the last couple of weeks. I will mention this, as humorously as possible, because often the best humor comes from pain. I will propose that they let me move in, on the hypothesis that if I never leave, then I will never be sad again. However, now I think about it, I have had dark moments in the library as well. What's the answer? Perhaps I should never ask questions again.

Little Trouble Goes A Long Way

my heart is empty but I still bleed/ remembering the dream I never had/ couldn't stop laughing but I was so sad/ too sad for any tears to be shed

Puff The Magic Dragon

Puff The Magic Dragon was never a drug song, despite the slander it has had to endure from stupid people who thought they were smart. It breaks my heart that such a sweet and gentle song should be maligned, for it's a song all children should hear.

Television & Our Impending Doom

When the TV meteorologist goes outside in the winter to do the weather report, I want to puke. What is the point, save to be proof of how profoundly stupid our culture is? I must find out who first did that inane stunt; next, I think the meteorologist should be attacked by a pack of wild dogs. It would make things interesting.

Suicidervival

Smiling on the outside, tears rising within. Is hopelessness a career move; a lifestyle choice? I wonder...have I ever written a happy song? Probabaly, but the sad ones outnumber them, and some songs are neither. How do I stop the daily assault I face from my psyche? The sudden, irrepressible urge for self-destruction? As long as I can laugh I can live but can I ever love again? That last sentence would be a good root for a song.

Bad Football

The National Title game was horrible. 65-7, and it wasn't even that close. I only saw the last quarter plus, but. TCU didn't belong on the same field as Georgia. Most likely no college team could have beat Georgia tonight, but TCU was pitiful, and their quarterback looked bad. He was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy? Didn't show it....obviously a beneficiary of outlandish hype, which he could not live up to. Georgia's defense had a lot to do with that, but Duggan did not look good at all, and a good QB rises to a challenge, not wilts under pressure.

Twelfth Night

Someone's gotta have/ so someone's gotta give/ Someone's gotta die/ cuz someone has to live/ Someone's gotta stay/ so someone else can go/ These are the only three things/ you'll ever have to know Everything else is only vanity/ culture doesn't mean shit to me/ science is just a stupid fucking game/ morality will only lead us all to shame

NFL

It seems like I am the only one who thinks the Bills/Bengals game should've been finished. By not doing so, the league risks being exposed as a scam. I feel bad for Hamlin and his pain, but all season long we are fed the line how tough these guys are, and now we see it ain't so. The NFL has crapped on their fans, 99% of whom are much worse off than these pampered jocks, using our sympathy to manipulate us. I may never watch another game again. If I do, please spare me all the warrior talk, because stopping the game has shown the players to be a bunch of wimps.
