The Devil Hates Rock & Roll

Some people, especially uptight fools, claim that rock & roll is the Devil's music, but I can tell you, with no uncertainty on my part, that the Devil hates rock & roll. That's why he tries to destroy it by purchasing the souls of lame performers and getting them recording contracts, and saturating our fragile culture with the most insipid music possible. There are too many examples to list in one blog entry: to list them all would take a coffee table book. First of all, the Devil hates freedom, and isn't that what rock & roll is really all about? But the Devil is sly, and he knows how stupid most people are. Often, the difference between what is ordinary and what is magical can be subtle; after all, there's a reason Beethoven is still loved today whereas most of his contemporaries are not worth listening to. Truly great music is timeless, and most music should be treated like dead fish; toss it in the trash. The other day, I went out for pizza, and on their sound system they played nothing but 80s rock, surely one of the greatest eras for the Devil's evil deeds, because every song sucked. They were rocking, but each lacked that special something that makes rock music live, truly live. That each had been hits in their time, and that some people actually still want to hear the garbage is only proof of how easily the Devil can fool the gullible. None of those bands had any longevity, because deep inside people know crap, and the more the crap gets heard the more they know it, until listening to such music produces a physical sensation akin to nausea. But the Devil has more victims today, since so very little of what is popular is actually good. That people listen at all is a mystery, but it seems the amount of outright garbage proliferates at a level that boggles the mind, and no critic will actually criticize the artists who inflict this damage on our culture. Of course, if we go by Sturgeon's law, that 90% of any atristry is rotten, then it's not surprising, but I believe that the percentage has gone up at least 7% since Sturgeon's time. But since rock & roll is about freedom, shouldn't people be free to listen to crap? Yes, but the lack of discernment empowers those who would produce drivel just for the sake of a buck. One could say Madonna is all about freedom, and I would not begrudge you that, but that doesn't change the fact that in her whole career she has not produced any interesting music, and that her singing is plain at best. She will sucking cock in Hell for all eternity.
